Julie Murphy, MLIS
Manager of Library and Information Services
Julie comes to PIRE with an M.L.I.S. from San Jose State University and experience in a wide variety of library settings. Over the last twenty years, she has worked in legislative, academic, public, school and special libraries. Some of these libraries include the United States Senate Library, the University of California at Santa Cruz, the Combat Training Center Archives at the Presidio of Monterey, and Allan Greenberg, Architect, L.L.C. She has also worked as a consultant to school libraries regarding retrospective conversion of catalog records, founded a computer tutoring business called Computer Basics, and has created web site mock-ups for a dot.com. Julie’s interests include medical and public health librarianship, and researching the Open Access movement to make scholarly publications more freely available.
Julie became Manager of Library and Information Services at PRC in 2003, and Manager of Library and Information Services for PIRE in 2007. She is responsible for responding to the information needs of PIRE staff and developing the library's electronic and print collections collections to provide targeted information services for all PIRE Centers.
