Community Introduction

The Prevention Research Center (PRC) is an international leader in the science of alcohol and drug abuse prevention. PRC recognizes that alcohol- and drug-related issues affecting communities across the country are complex and without a simple solution. Our team of researchers and support staff participate in a variety of research projects that have and will continue to yield important tools and findings relevant to the prevention of alcohol and drug misuse.

PRC believes that effective long-term strategies to prevent alcohol and drug misuse will take more than the basic tools provided within this web site. It will require a commitment from the community-at-large to invest in the development of long-term prevention strategies specifically tailored to them through the assistance of the various organizations. We want the resources and strategies on this web site to be utilized as a first step in the movement to prevent alcohol and drug misuse.

The PRC Resource Link was created by PRC to provide information and practical guidance to state and community agencies and organizations, policy makers, and members of the general public who are interested in combating alcohol and other drug abuse and misuse. The materials on the web site are based on the scientific research and analysis conducted at the Center. At this web site, visitors can learn more about current and recently completed Center projects, access useful publications by Center research scientists, and review an extensive library of prevention resources.
