Based in Berkeley, PIRE California was established in April 2017 and is a 501(c) (3) non-profit research center linked to the Pacific Institute for Research and Evaluation, which was chartered in California over 40 years ago.
Two PIRE California projects funded by the University of California Office of the President’s Tobacco Related Disease Research Program have recently begun:
Tobacco cessation and prevention for underserved Arab Americans: A pilot study . This study’s PI is Dr. Juliet P. Lee and its project director is Ms. Lina Ghanem.
Multilevel prevention of commercial tobacco-related harms on rural California Tribal lands . PI of this collaborative research project is Dr. Roland S. Moore. Dr. Juliet P. Lee and Dr. Daniel J. Calac of the Southern California Tribal Health Clinic are coinvestigators.
