Safer University Program

The Action Plan specifies the four major components of the intervention:

• DUI Check Points
• Compliance Checks
• Party Patrols (w/ optional local ordinance)
• Visibility Campaign (to maximize the impact of the other components)

The management plan is designed to coordinate the planning and implementation of the enforcement operations and the supporting student visibility campaign.  Management is objective driven and focuses on the action steps to maximize implementation, including meetings, collaboration and progress reporting.

In a randomized, controlled experimental trial involving 14 large public universities, the Safer University intervention was shown to reduce intoxication at off-campus parties and local bars and restaurants.
